Dike man killed during Wednesday evening storm

BUTLER COUNTY – A truck driver from Grundy County was killed during the severe storm that swept across northeast Iowa Wednesday night.

According to authorities, 70-year-old Dike resident James Budlong was killed after strong winds flipped his semi truck, pinning him inside. The fatal accident occurred on Highway 57, near Sinclair, around 5:30 last night.

Around that same time, the National Weather Service reported a 70-mile-per-hour wind gust in the area.
