UNION – The BCLUW and Grundy Center girls golf team finished first and second at a first-round regional golf tournament at South Hardin Recreation Area Golf Course in Union on Monday.

The Comets and Spartans move on to next Monday's regional final in Nashua-Plainfield, where the top two teams and top eight individuals will advance to the Class 1A state tournament.

BCLUW scored 408 atop the team standings, followed by Grundy Center with 424 and the day's other regional final qualifier, Lynnville-Sully with a 465. AGWSR had a 503 in fifth place and Gladbrook-Reinbeck shot a 504 for sixth place.

Comet senior Lauren Anderson tied for the low round of the day with a 94 but lost a card-back tiebreaker to North Tama's Olivia Schrier. D-NH advances to 2A regional final

DIKE – The Dike-New Hartford girls golf team gained a good deal of confidence in advancing to next Monday's regional final golf meet after a second-place finish at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike on Monday, May 14 in a first-round regional tournament.

D-NH's 387 team total trailed only New Hampton's 341 tally at the end of the 18-hole tourney. West Marshall also qualified for the regional final with a 392 team score as part of a new IGHSAU rule that allows an extra team to qualify for the regional final if the host team finishes in first or second.

Morgan Weber paced the Wolverines with a 3-over-par 75 to claim overall medalist honors. Weber had two birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey.
