Seven hospitalized after accident in Grundy County

Seven people were taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident on Highway 20 near Wellsburg on Saturday afternoon.


According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Raymond Abwe was heading west on Highway 20 about three miles northwest of Wellsburg around 3 p.m. on Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle on the slush-covered road.


The vehicle entered the median, rolled, spun around and came to a rest on the eastbound inside shoulder.

Abwe, along with six passengers who are between the ages of 16 and 20, were taken to the Grundy County Memorial Hospital to be treated for unknown injuries.
